Overassessed answers one question for Maryland homeowners: is my property assessment fair compared with genuinely similar homes? It checks your assessment against the state's own public roll (SDAT, about 2.4 million parcels, refreshed monthly) and tells you plainly where you stand. Most homes are in the normal range, and when yours is we say so. If yours is high, you get the evidence and the official places to file, free.
Appeal companies charge a cut of any savings, often 25 to 35 percent, for the same public numbers. You never need them: filing a Maryland appeal is free, and the state's records are public.
